Please join our community on Saturday, May 8, 2010 for the second annual "Run for the Angel Twins." This 5k/1 Mile Run/Walk is in memory and honor of identical twins, Cathryn and Corynne Bouchard, of Frisco, whose lives were lost in 2008 before their second birthdays to Niemann-Pick Disease Type C (NPC).
Come walk or run and bring the family! Over 500 people registered for the first event last year and raised almost $10,000!
All proceeds of this very special event go to the Ara
Parseghian Medical Research Foundation in honor of the Angel Twins Fund. It is part of the Bouchard family's Million Dollar Mission to leave a legacy for their precious daughters and to raise funds to find treatments for this disease which currently has no cure and is always fatal.
The Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation is a grassroots, 501 (c)(3)non-profit organization dedicated to funding medical research projects to find a treatment for Niemann-Pick Type C (NP-C) disease and related neurodegenerative disorders.
(NP-C) disease is a genetic, neurodegenerative disorder which causes progressive deterioration of the nervous system. It usually affects children by interfering with their ability to metabolize cholesterol. It is likened to "Childhood Alzheimer's." Large amounts of cholesterol accumulate within the liver, spleen, and brain. This metabolic disorder leads to a series of neurological problems that are ultimately fatal...until a treatment is found.
